Team Featured on the Cover of Inside Motorcycles and Earns First Place Finishes in Two
Categories at World of Motorcycles Expo
(February 19, 2009) Dorchester, ON. – When you head to your local
Chapters or Coles bookstore this week be sure to pick up the February edition of Inside Motorcycles from the
magazine rack. Featured on the front cover is the Pollard NitroSports Top Fuel Motorcycle and rider Geoff Pollard
as part of the 2008 Year in Review edition. By coincidence the magazine cover came just shortly after the teams’
recent appearance at the World of Motorcycles Expo from which they took home some impressive hardware. At the
conclusion of the three day event on Sunday afternoon, when the best in show awards were handed out, they found
themselves on the receiving end of two first place trophy presentations. The teams 1500 horsepower Top Fuel
Motorcycle earned first place rankings in both the Competition and Best Engineered divisions at this year’s show
when judged by a panel of motorcycle industry experts.

Inside Motorcycles produces 10 issues a year and focuses mainly on Canadian content to best
serve their readership. Given the strong performance of the Pollard NitroSports team last season they found
themselves included on the collage style cover with some of the greatest motorcycle racers to ever pull on the
leathers including multi-time Parts Canada Superbike champion Jordan Szoke. Inside, the team is included as part of
the issue, which notes their assault on the Canadian drag bike record book at the end of last season. The magazine
is sold at Chapters and Coles bookstores with a limited number of copies available but can also be ordered online
at www.insidemotorcycles.com
At the World of Motorcycles Expo the bike was judged against multiple entries from several
categories including numerous painstakingly prepared custom motorcycles. The team was awarded first prize in the
Best Engineered category which came as a surprise to both of the Pollard brothers, Geoff and Greg. “We honestly
didn’t even know that our bike was going to be included in the judging,” said an excited Greg Pollard. “But when we
were given the trophy for best engineered it meant a lot to my brother Geoff and I after all of the time and effort
we put into building this bike.” That time and effort came over a three year span that culminated with the bikes
debut in the latter part of the 2008 season and the eventual re-setting of both ends of the Canadian drag bike
national record with a 6.08 second elapsed time, 231 mile per hour run.

The Competition category pitted the Team Pollard machine against other racing specific entries
in the show. The category included several drag bike, as well as road racing and motocross entrants.
Over the past month the Pollard NitroSports team has taken centre stage at two of
South-western Ontario’s biggest enthusiast based automotive shows, including the World of Motorcycles Expo and the
CPT Racing Experience, and has been featured on the cover of Canada’s premier motorcycle racing
magazine. These events combined, provided the team with exposure to more than 55,000 targeted
consumers. “It sure would be nice to have a major sponsor on the side of this bike that could reap the benefits of
the exposure it generates,” said Jory Elliott, the teams marketing advisor and owner of DRIVEN Marketing and Media.
“The Pollard NitroSports team presents a very unique marketing tool for its sponsors that draws a lot of attention
at every event it attends.”
The team plans to attend a number of events in 2009 both in Ontario, Canada and throughout the
Eastern United States. Plans are in the works for the team to compete on the AMA DragBike Series in the U.S. while
some major venues in Ontario have expressed interest in having the team perform exhibition runs at high-profile
events this year.
About Pollard NitroSports
On the track since the mid 80’s Geoff Pollard has piloted several types of racing motorcycle
to event championships and national elapsed time and speed records. In 1993 Pollard Racing Canada was formed with
the introduction of the teams Alcohol Funny Bike. In 1999 Geoff scored a Pro Star national event victory and became
the first Canadian to eclipse 200 miles per hour on a motorcycle. After a close battle for the national point’s
championship in 2000 the Pollard’s passion to go faster led them to the Top Fuel
Motorcycle division. Their team excelled out of the gate in 2005 setting the Canadian national record for the class
and winning another Pro Star national event making Geoff the first rider in Pro Star history to win an event in
Funny Bike and Top Fuel competition.
The Pollard NitroSports team debuted a new Top Fuel Motorcycle in 2008 and proceeded to reset
both ends of the Canadian record with a 6.08 elapsed time, 231 miles per hour blast in November of that same year.
The team enters 2009 with one goal in mind, eclipse the six second barrier and become the first Canadian team to do
so, thus etching their names in the record books even further.
